NZ SERIES N WC 2011
After the no1 test team defeated the no1ODI team completely, INDIA now gears up for a Diwali gift series with the kiwis,Kiwis are coming off a horror series in bangladesh losing 4-0.In win Bangladesh has put more pressure on us to win the matches easily ,we may do that as well but is this ideal for wc ? The focus is not this series its SA tour that we concentrating more on.Senior players being rested but i doubt if SA tour more important then WC2011 !! BCCI could have been better off arranging this tour before aussies n kiwis which would have been better preparation for the world cup .Imagine the confidence aussies would have left losing to Indians.After all white wash no1 team just b4 wc always prefered. All said INDIA still need to settle on their team combination yet yes Viru,Gauti,Sachin,Raina,MSD,Bhajji,Zak,Yuvi auto select themsevles.But trouble is every time we expect so much from our youngsters( who shine in IPL) they fail on big day.ROHIT, KOHLI,ROBIN,have got many chances n now KOHLI seems to settling in the most but still its his position thats hard to cement.We lack a fast bowler to hit deck hard and have some pace too.In zak we do have experience but its not good when u dont have back up from other end.PK comes to help here but he lacks fire when there is no swing available for him,Spin being lead by Bhajji does not inspire confidence as well n with time Bhajji has become more of contention bowler then wicket taking option.We are missing an all rounder who can bat anywhere n bowl 10 overs too some one like Irfan pathan but our selectors just dont want him in squad too.With contest for just 4 spots in team India does have chance to win the world cup but we also need more brainy BCCI to plan tours according to our cricket and not as per their hunger for money !!

nice article.Ya we badly in need of fast bowlers.hope nehra can do some damage as he selected for the test series aganst NZ.i also thinks ther is nothing wrong to add PK to the test team.anyway let we wait and see.waiting fr the more articles.will get some love from me ;))

ReplyDeletePlayer worn out n tight itinerary have always been an issue. Players complain, but just keep playing..
India deftly wants a good allrounder. We never had a regular since Kapil Dev. Irfan can be given a 2nd chance (atleast a short-stint). But I don't think it's gonna happen
see dude india has never had a problem with their batting so fuhget about it and about the bowling dept yes they do look a bit weak but wiht zak and bahjji and nehra to support zak i dont see a reason why we wud fail in the wc.......and haan u dont have to teach india to play in the subcontinent!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe r the champions in that and with the team that we have right now we will surely do well. This wc is going to be the Master's giftto India(I wont say the parting gift becoz the way he is going he cud end up playing the 2015 wc too)
NZ must outplay themselves for sure!! But their problem is that after losing all with Young Bang can they live upto their country's expectations against the ON SONG team INDIA!! Anyway...well said bro abt Pathan!! he deserves a chance more than Rohit! and yeah only RAJNIKANTH can save BCCI ;) Good work bud :)

ReplyDeleteBut trouble is every time we expect so much from our youngsters who shine in IPL. Yes we do, BCCI also do. It seems IPL is the Shortcut way to get into Indian team nowadays instead of old and reliable domestic tournaments.
ReplyDeleteI agree with wat u said..I jst believe that more than hard hitting batsman , we need a player who is case of top order collapse can steady ur innings as well as hit some big ones while he is sent to finish off the innings. I think robin nd yusuf fail to do the first part properly.
ReplyDeleteVirat though can do it but WC being a huge platform and big games with loads of nerves, real character of a player will be tested. also at such huge stage, we need a player at no 7 who can not only bat well but also guarantee you more than 7 overs(which some one like Irfan Pathan can do).
But looking at selection for NZ series its quiet visible than they are in no mood to get back Irfan for WC. In such a case i believe team India will look for a finisher who can ball 3-5 overs in form of Yusuf..Unfortunately if India are 5 down in first 20-25 overs you know yusuf wont be able to adjust to defensive mode as its not his style of play...
Also in case of last over match yusuf tallent may not be good for dhoni to confidently ask him to do d job...
